The construction of the new production site is intended to cover the demand for products for the non-automotive segment.
The founding of a sales office in Chicago in 2017 was followed by the acquisition of a production site in 2018. Not even four years later, the group of companies is taking on another plant, which is also located in Valley City.
The pandemic also presented the Austrian family company and its locations with major challenges, which were handled relatively well through flexible planning on the one hand, and thanks to our large mix of customers from various industries on the other. The demand for profiles in the North American market continues unabated, and so the decision was taken early on to support the strategy of broadening the product portfolio with the construction of a new plant.
The company “Superior Roll Forming”, acquired in 2018, mainly supplies high-tensile profiles for the automotive industry. The new plant, located just 1 km away, will supply customers from across a wide range of segments: From the solar industry to storage technology to safety booths.
The advantages of being so close to the first American plant are also utilized: The good transport connections, the immediate proximity to customers, primary material, and workers.
With this investment, CEO Thomas Welser is convinced of also being able to provide optimal support to European customers who are expanding into North America. “We have decided to go global with one brand – Welser Profile.”
Bill Johnson, who has already led Superior Roll Forming with dedication since 2018, will act as local CEO of both plants.
